Dr. Marcus L. Simmons

Dr. Simmons was born and raised in Dublin, Georgia, graduating from Laurens County High School. He attended Mercer University for his undergraduate studies, graduating in 1993 Magna cum Laude with both a major in History and a minor in Chemistry. He then attended the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, graduating in 1997 with his Doctorate. For his Internal Medicine residency program, he attended the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, in Chattanooga.

In August of 2001, Dr. Simmons returned to Macon. He joined Rutland Family Healthcare, and a few years later he would purchase the practice becoming the sole owner. In 2010, he took a position with Coliseum Hospital in their Rehabilitation Unit, and has been the Medical Director since.  In keeping with his love of teaching, he joined Mercer Medicine in 2017 as an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine.

In his personal time, Dr. Simmons enjoys spending time with his twin daughters, who are now both in Athens at the University of Georgia. He loves UGA football, good music and good people. He has had the opportunity to care for multiple generations of families through the years, and looks forward to continuing in the years to come.

Laboratory

We have a Quest representative in-house to make laboratory needs much more convenient for our patients. No having to drive across town to have labs collected, and no having to make additional arrangements for another trip to have labs drawn. If Quest is your preferred laboratory on your insurance, we have you covered.

X- Ray

We have a certified radiology tech on staff that can take routine and emergency x-rays in house, rather than having to go to an outside facility. Our scans are read by one of the local radiologists at Radiology Associates here in Macon. In addition to standard x-rays, we also provide Bone Density scans, which are read in-house.
